The American-European Congress of Ophthalmic Surgery (AECOS) works diligently to advance vision care, enhance quality of life for patients, and facilitate communication between key leaders in the anterior segment space.
Each year, the Society hosts three unforgettable meetings: its Winter Symposium in Aspen, CO; its Summer Symposium in Deer Valley, UT; and its Europe Symposium, which rotates each year.
Below, two AECOS enthusiasts discuss their personal experiences attending the AECOS meetings, as well as the lasting impact the organization has had on their lives and careers.
“I had the privilege of attending my first time this past summer in Deer Valley, and it was amazing to see the innovation that is coming down the pipeline. You get access to these companies, and you also get to interact with industry leaders that are sometimes challenging to connect with at our larger ophthalmology meetings.”

“AECOS, to me, is just filled with wonderful memories. It is a highlight of the year that my friends and I always look forward to. Everyone is in different parts of the country, but we always make time in our schedule to come together and reunite at AECOS.”

“The sessions are very innovative, they're high yield, and we are able to hear experts in our field discuss new technologies, new surgical techniques, and be very candid amongst the audience.”

“[AECOS] is near and dear in my heart. It is one of the first meetings where I met some of my best friends in ophthalmology. It is such an intimate, small gathering of ophthalmologists, from those who are just early in their careers, to those who are giants in the field and have innovated and pushed the field forward.”
